THE BEAUTY OF THE “WORLD’S MOST BEAUTIFUL VOYAGE” COMES TO THE WEB
134 Hours of Continuous Coverage by State Broadcaster NRK; Guinness World Record for Longest Documentary Possible
Thoughts of watching the Yuletide Log at Christmas might come to mind but it takes just a few minutes of incredible Norwegian scenery and lapping ocean waves to calm the soul and tease the traveler – and discover why this voyage is considered the “world’s most beautiful voyage” by several top travel publications. The project, in the works for many months between Norway’s state broadcaster NRK and Hurtigruten, has gone live as of Thursday, June 16 and will provide 134 hours of round-the-clock television coverage, transmitted on the Norway’s state broadcaster’s 2nd largest station as well as worldwide on the web. Multiple cameras have been set up onboard the 691-passenger MS Nordnorge to offer a sweeping view of the voyage as well as interviews with passengers and scenes aboard the ship including the bridge. The cameras keep filming around the clock until the ship docks in Kirkenes. The link to the live feed is www.hurtigruten.us/live.
The MS Nordnorge transits Norway’s spectacular west coast, sailing between the cultural center of Bergen and Kirkenes, high above the Arctic Circle, with a total of 34 ports of call. The itinerary presents an ever-changing landscape of small fishing villages in the rugged Lofoten Islands; Art Nouveau Alesund, the medieval Viking capital of Trondheim; the western fjords with UNESCO-listed Geiranger leading the way, the wonderful coast of Helgeland, Tromso as the Gateway to the Arctic, and the North Cape.
Hurtigruten is a world leader in expedition cruising, sailing to the most remote destinations including Antarctica, Greenland and the Arctic’s Spitsbergen as well as year round along Norway’s coast and Europe in the spring and fall. The company’s fleet of 12 intimate ships, carrying 100 to 646 passengers, allows passengers to enjoy unique destinations in a relaxed atmosphere.
